JHF - Just Having Fun Singers

Phil Pace was “instrumental” in getting our group of singers together to spread some sunshine in the summer of 2015. He plays the piano for us to keep us on key. Phil shared his passion by talking with and emailing friends, inviting whoever might be interested to join us for any event such as at a local nursing home, which is great.

The other founders of JHF are Kathy Kelly - our day in and day out leader; Carol Schatz - who is our operational leader -booking , maintaining song books, and  collecting “valuable prizes” as appropriate for the residents; Sue Nieto - another "board member" and provides valuable input to all we do and assists in operational functions, Karen Donnelly -

who maintains the website and schedules accompanists.

As we have grown, so has our need for leadership. Jan Gilman organizes the emcees and is also an emcee. Angela Breton is also an emcee and keeps our Facebook page updated.

We have 50+ members now! Many help in various ways - being emcees, providing prizes and assisting with other logistics.

We have a growing list of musicians providing their musical talent.  We have five accompanists and sometimes feature ukuleles, alpine bells, soloists/duets, banjo, saxophone and guitar. Poems and recitations are also part of our repertoire.

JHF MUSIC

JHF music is fun, easily singable and tailored to the needs of the audience. Our singers are quite flexible and easy to work with.

We adjust our programs based on the audience. It is selected based on the music that is likely to be familiar with the target audience. We want the audience to be able to sing along with us.

For some groups we are able to add other fun features, such as quizzes or other games. Many in the audience delight in receiving small prizes. We've also added "If You're Happy and You Know it" and "The Hokey Pokey."

Our regular repertoire varies and includes some of the following:

You Are My Sunshine

Five Foot Two Eyes of Blue

God Bless America

Love Me Tender

Our songs for the holiday season include some of the following:

Santa Claus Is Coming to Town

Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer

Deck the Halls

Silver Bells

O Come All Ye Faithful

Joy to the World

Jingle Bells

Silent Night

We Wish You a Merry Christmas

Our theme song is:  "Sing, Sing a Song" -- it says perfectly what we do!
